The port of Po-ni
Chinese records describe a trading kingdom called Po-ni, usually identified with Brunei, which sends an embassy to the Song court in 977. Its ships carry camphor, hornbill ivory and tortoiseshell from the forests of Borneo to China, and Chinese porcelain comes back. Its people live in houses raised on stilts along the Brunei river.
