Canaan
In the Bronze Age the land between the Mediterranean and the Jordan is Canaan, a patchwork of walled city states such as Hazor, Megiddo and Jerusalem, on the road between Egypt and Mesopotamia. From about 1500 BC Egypt dominates it, and Thutmose III defeats a coalition of Canaanite kings at Megiddo around 1457 BC.
