Painted stones and engravings
Namibia holds some of Africa's oldest art: painted stone slabs from the Apollo 11 cave in the south are more than 25,000 years old. For thousands of years San hunter-gatherers live across the land and engrave the rocks of Twyfelfontein, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Khoekhoe herders, ancestors of the Nama, arrive with sheep and cattle about 2,000 years ago.
