The incense kingdoms
Ancient South Arabia is the land of incense kingdoms: Saba with its great dam at Marib, Qataban, Hadhramaut and Main. Their wealth comes from frankincense and myrrh, carried north by camel caravans to the Mediterranean world. These kingdoms compete for the caravan routes for about a thousand years.
