1299 to 1326
Osman's emirate
Around 1300 Anatolia is split into small Turkish emirates. One of them, led by Osman in Bithynia, on the Byzantine border near the Sea of Marmara, grows faster than the rest by raiding and winning followers. His son Orhan takes the city of Bursa in 1326 and makes it the first capital.
